Arsenal continued their strong Premier League form with a 2–0 victory over West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Former West Ham captain Declan Rice opened the scoring for the Gunners, slotting into an empty net after a rebound fell kindly to him inside the box. Bukayo Saka doubled the lead from the penalty spot, marking his 200th appearance for Arsenal with a goal.
The result keeps Mikel Arteta’s side within reach of defending champions Liverpool as they head into the international break.
Goalkeeper David Raya enjoyed a quiet afternoon, securing another clean sheet to strengthen his Golden Glove hopes. In defence, Jurrien Timber impressed with six tackles and eight duels won, while William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães ensured West Ham offered little attacking threat.
Midfield dominance came from Rice, who dictated play against his former club, and substitute Martin Zubimendi, whose clever pass led to the opener. Eberechi Eze and Saka both tested West Ham’s back line with energetic displays, while Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres endured a frustrating outing.
The only concern for Arsenal came when captain Martin Ødegaard was forced off in the first half with a suspected knee injury — his third early substitution in consecutive home games.
Arteta will hope the Norwegian’s setback is not serious as Arsenal look to maintain momentum when the Premier League resumes.
