Security operatives have foiled an attempted intrusion into the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Monday when security personnel on duty detected suspicious movements around the institute.

According to sources, the operatives responded swiftly, forcing the suspected intruders to flee into nearby bushes before they could gain access to the facility.

No casualties were recorded, and activities at the institute continued without disruption.

Efforts to obtain official comments from the Plateau State Police Command, Operation Enduring Peace, and the management of NIPSS were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

The incident comes less than two weeks after the Federal Government ordered a review and strengthening of security at NIPSS and other critical national institutions following an earlier security breach.

During a recent visit to the institute, Vice President Kashim Shettima said the directive reflected President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to safeguarding strategic national assets. He said measures being considered include enhanced surveillance, stronger perimeter security, tighter access control, and increased deployment of security personnel.

Shettima also assured that those responsible for previous security incidents at the institute would be identified and brought to justice.
