Chidimma Adetshina, Nigeria’s representative at the 73rd Miss Universe competition, has expressed profound gratitude to Nigerians and Africans for their unwavering support, which she credits for her remarkable performance at the Miss Universe 2024 event.
The grand finale, held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Sunday morning, featured an intense showdown between Adetshina and Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, as they competed for the prestigious crown. Ultimately, Miss Denmark emerged victorious, succeeding Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua as Miss Universe 2023.
Following the competition, Adetshina took to Instagram to express her heartfelt appreciation. Reflecting on her journey, she shared how Nigerians rallied behind her during her most challenging moments and highlighted the unity and support she received from across the African continent.
“To Nigeria: THANK YOU is not enough for all the support you’ve shown,” she wrote. “You picked me up when I was at my lowest. I’ve never opened up much, but I was ready to give up on my life.
