The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi has said the elevation which some officers of the FRSC enjoyed in the recent promotion exercise was not an award, but an honour they deserve and earned through hard work and dedication to the goals of the FRSC. He stated this today, while decorating the newly promoted officers at the FRSC Officers’ Mess Abuja, saying the beneficiaries have all met the criteria set for the elevation.

In a press release by Bisi Kazeem, Head , Media Relations and Strategy, FRSC,the Corps Marshal said some of the hurdles which the successful candidates scaled through ranged from physical tests to oral and written examinations as well as Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER), noting that they deserve to be congratulated. “The promotion is not an award, but an honour you deserve and earned through perseverance, determination and dedication to the laid down processes,” he stated.

While congratulating the officers, Oyeyemi recalled that the promotion exercise was guided by the criteria of merit, intellectual ability, character, commitment to institutional goals and above all, consideration for the provisions of the terms of the federal character principles particularly, for officers on senior ranks. He further stated that the ceremony marks yet another milestone in the Corps’ journey towards excellence and its capacity to sustain the Quality Management System Certification (ISO 9001-2008) which it earned about two and half years ago..

“The success of the promotion exercises in the Corps over the years has proved the rightness of the decision taken by the Management some years back to introduce examination in our promotion process as well as use of computer,” he said.

The Corps Marshal went further to state that Management has learnt from the previous exercises and will continue to improve on the processes in its commitment to creating level playing ground for all deserving staff who should always be assured of fair treatment. “I assure you that the process would not be compromised, as Management will continue to observe the highest standards of trust and professional ethics required in regimental organisations,” Oyeyemi further stated.

“Even though the paths you have passed through might have been tortuous, rough and tasking, your steadfastness, clarity of purpose and determination urged you on until you hit the goal post through your success which is being celebrated today”, he added.

The FRSC boss restated the commitment of the Management towards the policy of regular promotion exercise in the Corps, saying it is in line with its vision of rewarding excellence. He added that he will remain committed to improved staff welfare policies that can adequately respond to the needs of the staff for fulfilling service and life after service.

It would be recalled that while 907 officers of the rank of Deputy Corps Commanders, Chief Route Commander, Superintendent Route Commanders and Route Commanders were promoted last week, the presidency further approved the release of the result of the promotion of 116 officers of the rank of Assistant Corps Commander, bringing the total number of officers promoted in the exercise to 1, 023.

Many of the newly decorated officers who spoke on their experiences expressed appreciation to the Management for the elevation, pledging to work harder to justify their new status in the Corps. It has been celebration galore in the FRSC since last week, when the presidency gave approval for the release of the 2015 promotion results which brought wide celebration among officers and smiles to the faces of the beneficiaries, friends and families.
