The momentum behind the senatorial aspiration of Attorney Charles Onyirimba continued to gather strength as hundreds of supporters from across Okigwe Zone converged in Ehime Mbano for another strategic engagement ahead of the 2027 Senate election.
The gathering brought together coordinators, ward leaders, polling unit leaders, youth mobilisers, women leaders and other grassroots stakeholders drawn from the six local government areas that make up Okigwe Zone. The atmosphere was one of enthusiasm, unity and renewed determination as participants reaffirmed their commitment to the Onyirimba project.
Speaker after speaker described Attorney Onyirimba as a competent, experienced and visionary leader whose track record in public service, professional accomplishments and commitment to the development of Okigwe Zone distinguish him from the field. They pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation in every community, ward and polling unit to ensure that the aspiration translates into electoral victory.

A recurring theme throughout the meeting was the growing conviction that the 2027 election should be driven by competence rather than blind loyalty to political parties.
This position found its strongest expression in the remarks of the women leader, Mrs. Favour Nwelue, also fondly known as Ada Okigwe,
whose submission received overwhelming applause and unanimous endorsement from the gathering.
According to her, political parties should no longer be allowed to determine the destiny of Okigwe Zone.
“For too long,” she observed, “our people have voted according to party labels while our communities have remained underdeveloped. The result has been years of stagnation, neglected infrastructure, unemployment, poor representation and lost opportunities. It is time for the people themselves to decide their future by choosing the most capable candidate, irrespective of party affiliation.”
Her remarks resonated deeply with the audience, who unanimously agreed that the era of voting solely along party lines must come to an end. Participants argued that successive elections have shown that party platforms alone do not guarantee effective representation, insisting that what the zone urgently requires is a senator with the vision, competence, integrity and courage to attract development and defend the interests of the people.
Several youth leaders also pledged to champion a massive voter education campaign aimed at encouraging citizens to look beyond partisan sentiments, ethnic calculations and personal inducements. They maintained that the forthcoming election presents a historic opportunity for the people of Okigwe Zone to chart a new course by electing leaders based on proven capacity and genuine commitment to service. They also vowed to resist any attempt to subvert the wishes of the people through underhand dealings as had been the case in the past.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous pledge by the coordinators, ward executives, booth leaders and supporters to strengthen grassroots structures across all six local government areas, as they await the official commencement of campaigns. They resolved to sustain community engagement, expand the support base and work collectively towards ensuring that Attorney Onyirimba emerges victorious in the 2027 senatorial election.
The gathering ended on a note of optimism, with participants expressing confidence that the growing movement for competent, people-centred representation would ultimately reshape the political future of Okigwe Zone.
