Former Anambra State Governor and 2027 African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate hopeful, Peter Obi, on Wednesday embarked on an early-morning grassroots engagement across several area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reaffirming his belief that leadership must be people-centred, accessible, and grounded in everyday realities.

Obi said he set out at about 6:30 a.m. from his office in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) to directly connect with residents and advance what he described as a vision of leadership that genuinely serves the people.

His first stop was Abaji Area Council, where he campaigned alongside Dr Mohammed Ibrahim, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairmanship candidate. Obi undertook a one-hour walk through the community, interacting with residents and listening to their concerns and aspirations.

According to him, the exercise reinforced his conviction that true leadership is built on close contact with the people and a clear understanding of their lived experiences.

From Abaji, Obi proceeded to Kwali Area Council to support Hon. Jeremiah Badoji, the ADC chairmanship candidate, where he again spent an hour walking through the community and engaging residents.

“Leadership is not a distant concept; it is forged through presence, endurance, and authentic connection,” Obi said.

He later moved to Zuba to campaign for Pharmacist Iko Danjuma, the ADC chairmanship candidate for Gwagwalada Area Council, before visiting Deidei Market. At the bustling market, Obi interacted with traders and residents while canvassing support for Dr Moses Paul, the ADC chairmanship candidate for AMAC.

Obi used the engagements to reiterate his commitment to inclusive development that reaches all sectors of society, stressing that national transformation begins from the grassroots.

He concluded by restating his popular message of hope, saying that “a New Nigeria is not just a dream; it is a possibility.”
