The Peter Obi Media Office (POMR) has dismissed reports claiming that the former Labour Party presidential candidate granted an interview in which he criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued on Thursday, POMR spokesman Ibrahim Umar described the publications as false and malicious, insisting that Obi never made any such comments.
According to the statement, the former Anambra State governor has repeatedly expressed confidence in the ADC, especially under the leadership of former Senate President David Mark. The office said it was illogical to suggest that Obi attacked a party he has openly commended.
“The narrative claiming that Peter Obi made statements against the ADC contradicts his documented actions and public statements,” POMR said. “He has emphasised cooperation and partnership with any group committed to strengthening democracy and building the Nigeria of our dreams.”
The media office added that Obi’s recent public engagements have focused on unity in tackling poor governance, hunger, and economic hardship, rather than attacking opposition parties.
It urged the ADC leadership and the public to disregard the reports, describing them as “fake news pushed by political hirelings intent on distorting facts and distracting the opposition from the goal of ending bad governance.”
The statement was signed by Ibrahim Umar, POMR spokesman.
