France captain Kylian Mbappé has extended his record for the most multi-goal matches in the men’s FIFA World Cup after scoring twice in France’s 3-0 victory over Sweden in the 2026 Round of 32.

The brace was Mbappé’s seventh World Cup game with two or more goals, further cementing his place among the greatest goalscorers in tournament history.

His remarkable run of multi-goal performances began at the 2018 World Cup, when he netted twice against Argentina in the Round of 16. Four years later in Qatar, he scored twice against Denmark in the group stage, added another brace against Poland in the Round of 16, and produced a memorable hat-trick against Argentina in the final despite France’s defeat on penalties.

At the ongoing 2026 World Cup, Mbappé has continued his prolific form with braces against Senegal and Iraq during the group stage before adding another two-goal display against Sweden in the Round of 32.

The latest milestone underscores the 27-year-old’s extraordinary consistency on football’s biggest stage as France continue their quest for another World Cup title. Mbappé’s goals also helped Didier Deschamps’ side advance to the Round of 16, where they will face Paraguay.
