The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 93 senior police officers to higher ranks in a move aimed at strengthening leadership within the Nigeria Police Force.
The promotion exercise, approved during the Commission’s plenary, saw 13 Commissioners of Police (CPs) elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), while 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to Commissioners of Police.
The Commission also promoted 18 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to DCPs and 45 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).
According to the PSC, the promotions followed written examinations and oral interviews conducted for eligible officers as part of its merit-based promotion process.
PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Salihu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers, describing the elevations as recognition of their dedication, professionalism and outstanding service.
He urged them to justify their new ranks through greater commitment to effective policing, discipline and the protection of lives and property across the country.
