The Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has issued a security advisory ahead of the Eid El Kabir 1447AH celebrations scheduled for Wednesday, 28 May 2026, assuring residents of a safe and secure festive period across the region.

In a statement, OPHK extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful and reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the North East. The command emphasized that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place, including forward-deployment of troops to critical locations, intensified patrols, and full activation of surveillance and intelligence assets.

The advisory noted that credible intelligence indicates the possibility of isolated attempts by remnants of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) to target civilians using suicide bombers or improvised explosive devices, particularly in densely populated areas. The command, however, assured the public that these threats have been anticipated and mitigated through coordinated operations with sister security agencies, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and community vigilance groups.

Residents were urged to observe heightened security measures during the celebrations, including:

*Conducting prayers and festivities close to homes or familiar areas.

*Exercising vigilance in crowded locations such as markets, motor parks, and prayer grounds.

*Reporting suspicious persons, objects, or unusual movements to security authorities.

*Cooperating fully with security personnel during patrols and screening operations.

*Limiting unnecessary movement, especially at night or in areas with low security presence.

*Avoiding the spread of unverified information or rumours.

Operation HADIN KAI called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, media organizations, and community stakeholders to assist in encouraging timely reporting of credible security information and promoting cooperation with security forces.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for OPHK, reassured the public that troops remain on standby and fully prepared to ensure that Eid El Kabir celebrations proceed in a safe, peaceful, and dignified manner.
