Kelechi Iheanacho helped Celtic secure a dramatic 3-1 comeback victory over Hearts at Celtic Park as the Hoops clinched a record-breaking 56th Scottish Premiership title on the final day of the season.
Celtic were stunned in the 43rd minute when Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland headed the visitors in front from a corner, leaving the home fans anxious at the break. However, Arne Engels restored parity deep into first-half stoppage time, calmly converting a penalty after a handball decision against Hearts.
The tension continued throughout the second half before Daizen Maeda finally put Celtic ahead in the 87th minute after VAR confirmed Callum Osmand was onside during the build-up.
Osmand then wrapped up the victory in stoppage time, finishing into an empty net after Hearts committed everyone forward in search of an equaliser.
The final whistle sparked jubilant scenes at Celtic Park as supporters invaded the pitch to celebrate Celtic’s fifth consecutive league title and a historic 56th Scottish top-flight crown, moving them ahead of Rangers as Scotland’s most successful league club.
Celtic’s triumph capped an extraordinary season marked by managerial upheaval before veteran coach Martin O’Neill guided the club to seven straight wins to seal the championship.
