The House of Representatives has voted to remove Danladi Umar from his position as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The decision was made during Tuesday’s plenary session when the House invoked paragraph 17(3), part 1, fifth schedule of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), and section 22(3) of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, Cap C15 LFN 2004.

This constitutional provision states that the Chairman or a member of the CCT can only be removed through a resolution supported by a two-thirds majority in both Houses of the National Assembly, citing reasons such as inability to perform official duties, misconduct, or violation of the Code
