Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued 10 kidnapping victims, including an infant, after pursuing their abductors in Katsina State.
The victims were rescued on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, following a rapid military response to reports of the abduction of residents of Unguwan Daudu and Unguwan Chibauna communities in Funtua Local Government Area.
According to the Nigerian Army, troops deployed around the Sabuwa axis were mobilised to track the fleeing terrorists after receiving actionable intelligence about the abduction.
The pursuing troops reportedly mounted intense pressure on the criminals, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee as the military closed in.
All 10 victims were subsequently recovered safely.
The rescued civilians comprised three adult males, six females and one infant.
The victims are expected to be handed over to the Sabuwa Local Government authorities for medical assessment and other necessary support before being reunited with their families.
The Army said the successful operation demonstrated the continued efforts of troops under Operation Fansan Yamma to disrupt the activities of terrorists and kidnappers operating across the North-West.
The operation also highlighted the importance of timely and actionable intelligence in enabling security forces to respond swiftly to attacks, pursue fleeing criminals and rescue abducted civilians before they are taken deeper into terrorist hideouts.
