The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji on Thursday, disclosed that the Command has deployed 2,500 Policemen to strategic places across the state to prevent possible breakdown of law and order throughout the period of Eid-EL-Fitr celebration.
The CP in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja on Thursday, said that his men would be working in conjunction with other sister agencies to ensure safe environment for the celebration.
According to the Commissioner, “The Kogi Police Command is in synergy with other security agencies in the State to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties during and after the celebrations. Members of the public should therefore, remain calm as necessary security measures have been put in place to secure public places and guarantee a safe and secure environment for all”
He urged the law abiding members of the public to go about their lawful activities with a warning to trouble makers to desist from any act capable of disrupting the prevailing peace in the state as the Command will not hesitate to deal with any one caught in the act.
Ayuba called on the members of the public to report any suspicious objects, movements and activities around their neighborhood to the Police or any other security agencies in the state for prompt response to mitigate the act.
The CP applauded State Government for its continued support to the Police in the fight against crime and criminality in the State,
“We equally appreciate the efforts of the traditional rulers as custodian of culture for their roles in implementing the Community Policing Project in their various Communities. The religious leaders for their prayers, the Press for being our partners and supporters in the fight against criminality in the State, the vigilante, the hunters as well as patriotic members of the public for their support with credible information which led to the arrest and prosecution of some criminal elements terrorizing the good people of the State”
The CP also commended the heads of Security agencies in the State for effective synergy in the fight against criminality.
He assured that the command’s tempo in the fight against crime and criminality and to reclaim public spaces remain unequivocal and unwavering.
