Dr. Dakuku Peterside, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State has described the performance of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP under the present administration at the centre as abysmally low and unparalleled in the history of public administration in Nigeria. He warned that the current economic gloom, insecurity and political challenges facing Nigeria can only be reversed by voting competent people.
He made the statement at Town School, Oyigbo during his ward rallies in Oyigbo Local Government Area. The candidate who was accompanied by supporters of APC charged Rivers people to vote for those who will truly represent their interest and the interest of Rivers State.
He also urged them to shun the lies and misinformation inspired by PDP’s desperation to remain in government despite the party’s awful performance in all the critical sectors of the economy. He added that the presidential election is not about President Goodluck Jonathan, General Muhammadu Buhari or the South-South. According to him, the election is about the future of Nigeria and from every indication; PDP does not have what it takes to lead Nigeria out of its present predicament. Peterside therefore called on South-South people to join hands with other parts of the country in their determined effort to rescue Nigeria from the many challenges facing her.
For good measure, he cited the famous Biblical story of the “Good Samaritan” as an excellent model of good neighbourliness, describing a good neighbour as one who takes interest in the live and wellbeing of his neighbour. He said Buhari today is a good neighbour of the South-South because of the good things he did in the past for the region and what he has promised to do again this second time around. He cautioned against voting on emotion and called on people of the state to vote massively for APC because it is the only party that can fight all the vices facing the country so that Nigeria can be released from the bondage of insecurity and incompetence.
