The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its primary elections to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.

The party announced the schedule in a timetable and programme of activities signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and released on Wednesday.

According to the APC, the timetable followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s decision to restore four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states.

The affected constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II in Delta State, and Yagba West II in Kogi State.

For the legislative bye-elections, the APC listed Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi; Udu State Constituency in Delta; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.

The party said the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms would run from August 18 to 20, with the deadline for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents also fixed for August 20.

Screening of aspirants, publication of screening results and consideration of screening appeals will take place on August 21, ahead of the primaries on August 22. Election appeals are scheduled for August 24.

The APC fixed the expression of interest fee for House of Assembly aspirants at N1 million and the nomination fee at N5 million, bringing the total to N6 million.

For House of Representatives aspirants, the expression of interest fee is N1 million, while the nomination fee is N9 million, totalling N10 million.

The party, however, said female, youth and physically challenged aspirants would pay the prescribed expression of interest fee and 50 per cent of the nomination fee for their respective positions.

The development followed INEC’s restoration of the four previously suppressed constituencies in Delta and Kogi after court judgments. The constituencies had remained without direct representation in the respective State Houses of Assembly for several years.

The APC timetable also covers the forthcoming legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states, including the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, whose seat became vacant following the death of lawmaker Tongo Yaya.Headline suggestions:
