The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has described the recent High Court ruling in Lokoja, Kogi State, concerning the legal status of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a temporary setback, assuring supporters that the coalition’s quest for a “New Nigeria” remains on course.
In a statement issued on Friday by its spokesman, Idris Zekeri Jnr., POMR said it had been inundated with enquiries from news organisations and concerned Nigerians following what it described as a “bizarre ruling” by the court.
According to the statement, the coalition’s legal team is reviewing the judgment and will immediately initiate corrective and appellate processes to challenge the decision.
While awaiting legal advice, POMR said its principal had urged supporters, coalition partners and Nigerians backing the movement to remain calm and focused.
“We always knew that the journey to dismantle a deeply entrenched and grossly underperforming political status quo would be met with fierce institutional resistance and unexpected legal detours,” the statement said.
The media organisation maintained that the ruling represented only “a hurdle, not a stop sign,” insisting that its commitment to building “a transparent, legitimate and formidable alternative” for Nigerians remained unchanged.
It added that the legal rights of the coalition would be vigorously pursued, expressing confidence that the movement would overcome the challenge.
“Do not be discouraged; the vehicle may face a temporary breakdown, but our destination remains non-negotiable,” the statement added.
POMR summed up its position with the message: “Our march to a New Nigeria cannot be halted. A detour, yes, but the destination is certain.”
