Mohamed Salah marked his return to the Liverpool team by breaking an all-time Premier League record during the Reds’ 2–0 win over Brighton at Anfield.

The Egyptian forward started on the bench following talks with manager Arne Slot but was introduced earlier than expected after Joe Gomez picked up an injury. Salah made an immediate impact, delivering a corner that Hugo Ekitike headed home for Liverpool’s second goal.

That assist took Salah to 277 direct goal contributions (goals and assists) in the Premier League for Liverpool, moving him clear of Wayne Rooney and making him the most productive player in league history for a single club.

It was a strong performance from Salah, widely regarded as his best of the season. Liverpool also secured back-to-back clean sheets, and the forward received a warm reception from supporters, embracing teammates and applauding all sides of the stadium at full time.

Salah’s return came just a week after he voiced frustration following Liverpool’s 3–3 draw with Leeds, having been left out of the starting lineup in recent matches. He was subsequently omitted from the squad for the Champions League trip to Inter Milan, which Liverpool won 1–0.

After renewed discussions, Salah was restored to the matchday squad and came on in the 26th minute against Brighton. His influence was clear, with Liverpool looking more dangerous going forward and creating several chances through his involvement.

The record-breaking display underlined Salah’s enduring importance to Liverpool and further cemented his status as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.
