A highly coordinated Israeli airstrike that killed dozens of Iran’s top military leaders was reportedly inspired by the infamous “Red Wedding” scene from HBO’s Game of Thrones, according to the Times of Israel.

Code-named “Red Wedding,” the June 13 attack marked the beginning of a 12-day conflict. Over 200 Israeli Air Force aircraft targeted around 100 locations, including nuclear facilities and missile factories.

The operation eliminated key Iranian figures such as:

Gen. Hossein Salami, Revolutionary Guard head

Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces

Gholam Ali Rashid, head of emergency command

Israeli intelligence reportedly lured top commanders to a meeting location, making the strike even more devastating. Like the fictional massacre, the operation led to a swift and brutal elimination of leadership.

Defense Minister Israel Katz later revealed Israel had considered assassinating Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but the opportunity never materialized as he went into hiding.

Khamenei resurfaced days later to declare “victory” despite the heavy losses, claiming Iran had “slapped America in the face.”
