U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Mark Totten and Jordan Demay’s parents provided remarks shortly after the hearings concluded, streamed live here.
It’s been over two years since 17-year-old Marquette teen DeMay died by suicide after getting caught up in the sextortion scheme.
DeMay’s parents say the time is now to take action to protect kids, and communities and to honor their son Jordan DeMay.
Since then, his parents and law enforcement have worked to not just find those responsible for the events of that evening but to share his story.
“Jordan was larger than life, right? So, when I think about all of this, that his story has changed lives internationally, I think of course you did. Of course, you did, because that’s him, he’s big,” said Jordan’s mother Jennifer Buta.
