The Federal Government has reopened the application portal for its ₦50,000 Conditional Grant Scheme, giving eligible nano and micro business owners another opportunity to access non-repayable financial support aimed at boosting small enterprises and creating jobs.
The programme, managed by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), provides a one-off ₦50,000 grant to qualified beneficiaries. Unlike a loan, the grant does not attract interest and does not have to be repaid, provided recipients meet the programme’s conditions.
According to SMEDAN, the initiative is designed to support nano and micro enterprises that often struggle to access conventional business financing. Beyond providing financial relief, the scheme seeks to stimulate entrepreneurship, improve productivity, expand local businesses and encourage job creation across the country.
One of the key conditions attached to the grant is that every beneficiary must employ at least one additional worker after receiving the funds. The agency said the requirement is intended to promote employment while strengthening small businesses.
The grant targets nano and micro enterprises operating across Nigeria’s local government areas. During registration, applicants will be required to provide their full name, email address, phone number, business name, CAC registration number (where applicable), type of business or industry, and the number of years the business has been in operation. Applicants are advised to ensure all information submitted is accurate and consistent with their business records.
SMEDAN said successful applicants can use the ₦50,000 grant to purchase equipment, increase working capital, adopt new technologies, expand their businesses, build capacity, or explore new markets.
Interested business owners are expected to complete their applications through the official SMEDAN Conditional Grant Scheme portal and ensure they meet all eligibility requirements before submitting their applications.
