The Obidient Movement has dismissed reports suggesting internal divisions within its ranks, insisting that the movement remains united and is instead evolving in line with the governance principles championed by its leader, Peter Obi.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the movement described reports of a purported split as “manufactured media narratives” designed to create the false impression that its members are fractured.

According to the movement, what critics interpret as disunity is actually the natural and decentralised growth of a citizen-driven coalition built around shared values rather than rigid political structures.

The group emphasised that the Obidient Movement is not a conventional political organisation with a centralised hierarchy but a broad-based movement anchored on principles of accountability, economic development, fairness, and competent leadership, all of which it said are embodied by Peter Obi.

It noted that while various civic groups across the country may adopt different methods of engagement, they remain united in pursuing a common vision of building a “New Nigeria.”

The movement described its decentralised structure as one of its greatest strengths, arguing that the absence of a single leadership body makes it difficult for any individual or subgroup to compromise the aspirations of its supporters.

“The movement belongs to the Nigerian people and not to a select group of politicians,” the statement said.

It further reaffirmed its commitment to ending what it described as “transactional politics” that have hindered Nigeria’s development over the years.

The group maintained that there is no disagreement among its members regarding its core objectives and stressed that its mission remains firmly aligned with Peter Obi’s principles and approach to governance.

The Obidient Movement also urged Nigerians and its supporters around the world to ignore what it called deliberate attempts to distract and weaken the movement through misinformation.

It assured supporters that it remains united, vigilant and focused on achieving Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation.

“The movement is unified, vigilant and remains singularly focused on achieving the socio-economic liberation of Nigeria,” the statement added.
