The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be staged across 16 stadiums in the United States, Mexico and Canada, marking the first time three countries will jointly host football’s biggest tournament.

Scheduled for June 11 to July 19, the expanded competition will feature 48 teams and matches at 11 venues in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada. Unlike the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which required the construction of new stadiums, the North American hosts are relying largely on existing world-class facilities, many of which have undergone significant upgrades ahead of the tournament.

The 16 host venues are Lumen Field (Seattle), Levi’s Stadium (San Francisco Bay Area), SoFi Stadium (Los Angeles), Arrowhead Stadium (Kansas City), AT&T Stadium (Arlington), Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta), NRG Stadium (Houston), Gillette Stadium (Boston), Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia), Hard Rock Stadium (Miami), and MetLife Stadium (New Jersey) in the United States; Estadio Akron (Guadalajara), Estadio BBVA (Monterrey), and Estadio Azteca (Mexico City) in Mexico; and BC Place (Vancouver) and BMO Field (Toronto) in Canada.

Among the standout venues is MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which will host the tournament final. AT&T Stadium in Arlington will be the largest venue, with a capacity of about 94,000 spectators, while Estadio Azteca will make history as the first stadium to host matches in three different FIFA World Cups after previously staging games in 1970 and 1986.

Several host stadiums have invested in renovations to meet FIFA standards, including Estadio Azteca, AT&T Stadium and BMO Field. The tournament will also highlight a diverse range of architectural designs, from retractable-roof facilities such as Mercedes-Benz Stadium and BC Place in Vancouver to landmark venues like Estadio Azteca, one of football’s most iconic arenas.

The 2026 edition will be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams, up from 32, making it the largest tournament in FIFA history. Organisers expect millions of fans to travel across North America for the month-long event, which will be played across some of the continent’s most renowned sporting venues.Headline Options:
