President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, compassion and unity as Muslims across the country and around the world prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

In his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message released on Tuesday, the President congratulated Muslim faithful on witnessing another celebration of the Islamic festival, describing it as a period for reflection on the values of faith, obedience and selflessness exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

Tinubu said the festival serves as a reminder for Nigerians to show love and compassion to one another irrespective of ethnic, religious or social differences.

“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the enduring virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim—faith, obedience, and the willingness to sacrifice for a higher purpose,” the President stated.

He urged Nigerians to support one another, especially the less privileged, and strengthen national unity during the festive season.

The President also used the occasion to defend his administration’s economic reforms, acknowledging that the measures had been difficult but necessary to reposition the country for long-term prosperity.

According to him, the sacrifices made by Nigerians over the past three years were beginning to produce positive results, including a more stable economy and increased investor confidence.

“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” Tinubu declared, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms would continue to improve security and create more opportunities for citizens.

Speaking on insecurity, the President assured Nigerians that the government remained committed to defeating terrorism and banditry across the country.

He noted that despite recent successes recorded by security agencies, including the elimination of a wanted ISIS leader, some communities were still under attack from terrorists and criminal gangs.

“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.

Tinubu further appealed to Nigerians to pray for peace, wisdom for leaders and national progress, while warning criminals to abandon their activities or face the full weight of the law.

The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development to build a peaceful and prosperous nation.

He concluded by wishing Muslims and all Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration, praying that Allah accepts their sacrifices and continues to bless the country.
