A new biography chronicling the life and impact of philanthropist Uzoma Festus Mbisiogu was formally unveiled in Lagos over the weekend, drawing admirers, associates, and well-wishers to a colourful ceremony.
The book, From Grass to Grace: Portrait of Uzoma Festus Mbisiogu’s Journey, was presented at DEES Hotels, in what organisers described as a “festival of testaments” celebrating a life of resilience, diligence, and service to humanity.
Authored by Collins C. Mbakwe, Henry U. Ogudo, and Daniel Uzoigwe, the biography offers a detailed account of Mbisiogu’s rise from humble beginnings to prominence, highlighting his contributions to human capital development and community advancement. The authors said the work departs from conventional Nigerian biographical writing by portraying its subject as a multifaceted individual, combining both his strengths and human imperfections.
Blending storytelling with elements of cultural heritage, including folk narratives and traditional experiences, the book delivers what the writers described as a rich and immersive reading experience aimed at inspiring younger generations.
Speaking at the launch, the publishers, Erudite Writers, said the project was driven by a desire to preserve Mbisiogu’s legacy and promote values such as integrity, service, and hard work. They revealed that significant resources and extensive research efforts went into producing the book, describing it as their “humble offering to posterity.”
The writers also announced plans to establish an annual reading and quiz competition across Ideato beginning next year. According to them, the initiative will distribute copies of the book to schoolchildren while promoting literacy and instilling values of discipline, diligence, and community service.
“We want to inspire a new generation to choose substance over show, service over self, and legacy over luxury,” the publishers stated, while calling on individuals and institutions to support the initiative.
The event also featured reflections on the state of societal values, with speakers lamenting the tendency to prioritise lavish ceremonies over investments in education and talent development. They urged greater support for intellectual and creative endeavours that can shape future generations.
In her remarks, a regional manager with Ecobank, Mrs. Joy Ezenwobi, who unveiled the book, described Mbisiogu as “a man of character” whose life exemplifies divine faithfulness and personal perseverance.

Responding, Mbisiogu attributed his philanthropic efforts to a sense of purpose, urging individuals to discover their calling and contribute meaningfully to society.
“It will be unfortunate if we pass through this world without adding value and making it a better place,” he said.
The event also featured a presentation of a portrait to Mbisiogu by associates, as tributes poured in highlighting his contributions, including scholarships for students, support for widows, mentorship of young leaders, and funding of community projects.
Speakers noted that his actions, more than words, continue to define his legacy, describing him as a living inspiration whose impact resonates across communities.
