In a strategic move aimed at addressing the growing challenge of food affordability in Nigeria, Nestlé Nigeria has introduced Golden Morn 3in1, the country’s first fully ready-to-eat cereal. This innovative product combines maize, soya, and milk in a convenient single-serve pack, requiring only the addition of water to provide a complete, nutritious meal anytime, anywhere.
Since its debut in 1986, Golden Morn has remained a staple in Nigerian households, becoming the nation’s most consumed cereal. Building on this strong legacy, Golden Morn 3in1 is specifically designed to cater to the needs of modern consumers who are seeking affordability, convenience, and balanced nutrition without compromise.
During the launch event in Lagos, Wassim Elhusseini, Managing Director and CEO of Nestlé Nigeria, emphasized the company’s commitment to consumer-driven innovation:
“Golden Morn 3in1 marks a major milestone in our mission to deliver accessible and affordable nutrition. After two years of intensive research and consumer feedback, we are proud to offer a product that not only fits the economic realities many Nigerians face but also delivers essential nutrients with ease and convenience.”
The launch of Golden Morn 3in1 comes at a critical moment, as food affordability continues to be a significant challenge. The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2024 Report reveals that 172 million Nigerians were unable to afford a healthy diet in 2022. In response to this urgent issue, Nestlé Nigeria has positioned Golden Morn 3in1 as a cost-effective solution that bridges the nutritional gap for families struggling to maintain balanced diets.
Omofasa Orhiunu, Category Manager for Healthy Cereals at Nestlé Nigeria, elaborated on the product’s role in addressing food insecurity:
“With a large number of Nigerians unable to access nutritious meals, Golden Morn 3in1 provides a practical and affordable alternative. At just ₦300 per 45g pack, it is fortified with GRAINSMART Protect, a unique blend of iron and essential vitamins to support immunity, along with protein, calcium, and fiber for overall health.”
In addition to affordability, Golden Morn 3in1 offers significant savings on meal preparation costs—up to 32% less than traditional breakfast options—making it an instant, nutritious choice for busy families.
As Nestlé continues to innovate, the company remains dedicated to using consumer insights to create products that address local dietary needs while promoting overall well-being. Golden Morn 3in1 is a testament to Nestlé’s ongoing commitment to providing sustainable nutrition solutions that support Nigerian families during these challenging times.
