The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, has dismissed rumors of an impending alliance with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai ahead of the 2027 elections.

The speculation about a potential alliance between the SDP, Atiku, and El-Rufai has been circulating, but Gabam refuted the claims during an appearance on TVC’s Politics Today. He emphasized that no discussions regarding such alliances had taken place and reaffirmed that the party’s primary focus is on strengthening its platform.

“There is no alliance with anyone. As chairman, I have not participated in any talks about alliances. Our priority is reviewing our strategies from 2024 and building a dynamic, inclusive platform,” Gabam stated.

Gabam also expressed concern over the rising cost of living, criticizing the current economic situation in Nigeria. He highlighted the struggles Nigerians face, citing increases in electricity bills, food prices, and transportation costs despite government claims of economic improvement.

“The cost of living is unbearable. Nigerians are paying more for basic services while being told the economy is improving. These contradictions are troubling,” he said.

He further urged leaders to stay connected to the realities faced by the people, warning against relying on filtered reports that may overlook critical issues affecting ordinary citizens.
