Scores have been reportedly died in Agbor town in Delta State after a petrol-laden truck erupted in flames in a densely populated area of the metropolis.
Agbor, the headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area in Delta State, was rocked by the explosion on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred when a 33,000-litre tanker, which had been near First Bank, exploded while the driver was making a turn on the busy Old Lagos/Asaba Road.
The blast caused widespread damage, setting several houses and vehicles on fire.
Eyewitnesses said some residents and passersby attempted to extinguish the flames, but the fire continued to rage.
Some houses and vehicles around the scene were severely damaged, with some still burning.
The body of a car owner who was reportedly burnt beyond recognition was found on the road.
