It is now crystal clear that Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s undying commitment to the state cause is a glowing testament to his worthiness to pilot the affairs of the “Heartbeat of the Nation” for the next four years.
Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo state, whose authenticity was accentuated by a Federal High Court as the winner of the party’s primary, has been proven as a legitimate candidate in the race.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja affirmed the candidature of Ighodalo while delivering the verdict on the suit filed by the state’s former governor, Philip Shaibu.
The court ruled that Ighodalo was duly elected as the candidate of the PDP for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State.
Meanwhile, the PDP describes the landmark judgement which upheld the party’s Governorship Primary election held on February 22, 2024, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City as a victory for democracy, rule of law and a well-founded affirmation of the propriety and credibility of the primary election and PDP’s internal democracy.
The spontaneous jubilation across Edo State at the news of the judgement, reaffirms the PDP’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the undisputed preference of the majority of the people of Edo State in the coming Governorship election.
The party notes that the judgement further validates the fact that all the aspirants at the Governorship Primary election were accorded level playing ground in the conduct of the Edo State PDP Congresses and Governorship Primary election that produced Dr. Asue Ighodalo as a candidate.
It is now evident also, that the claims made by every cluster of opposition challenging Ighodalo’s nomination was mere jamboree of aberrations and concocted falsehood by those who are ignorant of the law, (and, as such, disrespect it) in order to hoodwink the good people of Edo State and therefore mislead them.
The PDP congratulates Dr. Asue Ighodalo and urges all party members to remain united and continue to work together with the majority of the people of Edo State to ensure the victory of the party and candidate in the September 21, 2024 governorship election.
