Small Scale Women Farmers Organisation of Nigeria (SWOFON), Kogi Chapter has honoured Dr. Sani Abdullahi Ozomata, State Coordinator of Agro-processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) with an Award of Excellence Performance in appreciation of his contributions towards women empowerment.
The Kogi State Coordinator of SWOFON, Hajia Safiya Yahaya while presenting the Award to Dr. Sani Abdullahi Ozomata in his office in Lokoja on Tuesday, appreciated him for a grant of N2million for the procurement of farming inputs made available to some individual women in the state.
She described Dr. Sani Abdullahi Ozomata’s kind disposition and contributions to the upliftment of women folk as laudable saying that it is good to give honour to whom it is due.
Hajia Safiya Yahaya praised ActionAid Nigeria for its support through advocacy to the Women Group to enable it embark on capacity building of women in the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State.
“Our activities for women empowerment with the support of ActionAid Nigeria cut across all the wards in the 21 Council Areas of Kogi” SWOFON Coordinator disclosed.
Responding, the Kogi State APPEALS Coordinator and beneficiary of the Award, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Ozomata, said that the gesture will spur him to do more for the women folk in the state.
“Iam happy that am being appreciated. I really value the recognition but I must confess that am only a contributor. We did it together and the success story goes to all of us. I will not relent in ensuring that women have their place in the society
“I will continue to ensure that the right people get our support. The essence of APPEALS Project is to create job, wealth and boost food security
“Am also assuring you people that those women that have not benefited from our women empowerment will be considered in our future engagement.
“Please don’t shortchange yourselves and try to make best out of the benefits by investing your proceeds for the betterment of your existence” Dr. Sani Abdullahi Ozomata admonished.
