NMA Lauds Gov Bello’s Financial Support For Dr Agbana Busayo’s Health Challenge

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Kogi State chapter, has commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his quick intervention to approve the sponsoring of the medical treatment of Dr Busayo Agbana, who was diagnosed of cancer of the colon.

Dr Busayo Agbana, Provost, College of Medicine at the Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, was diagnosed with cancer of the colon and needs medical attention in India which will cost over #37,289,680 Million.

Dr. Agbana Busayo is currently receiving treatment in Nigeria, but the family members no longer can bear the huge financial burden as well as the huge amount needed to carry out the management in India.

The NMA Chairman, Kogi chapter, Dr Simeon Omakoji Oyiguh, made the commendation in statement made available to journalists by the Director of Publicity of NMA, Kogi State Chapter, Dr. Emmanuel BJ Kelvin, on Friday in Lokoja.

The Chairman appreciated the Governor for his magnanimity in granting the approval for the State Government to sponsor the treatment of their ailing member in India.

The Chairman described Gov Yahaya Bello as a health friendly governor who has always prioritized the wellbeing of its members as well as every citizen of the State.

”Your Excellency, the NMA Kogi chapter, sincerely appreciates your kind gesture in granting speedy approval for the State Government to take up the responsibility of the medical treatment of our ailing member, Dr. Busayo Agbana, in India.

”We thank you for always giving priority to the health sector in the State as well as the wellbeing of every citizen, especially the health workers. We sincerely appreciate this kind gesture,” he said.

He further eulogised the governor for his recent approval of the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage as well as the consequential adjustment of workers’ salaries in Kogi State Civil Service.

The Chairman also called on the governor to approve the new hazard allowance for health workers in the State, and the circularization of the already approved 2014 REVISED CONMESS for implementation by the Kogi State Pensions Board and the Prince Abubakar Audu University ( PAAU).
