The Igala Cultural Development Association(ICDA), has expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the East Senatorial District of Kogi State.
The association urged governor Yahaya Bello to as a matter of urgency proffer solutions to stem the tide of the rampaging hoodlums that have made the flank their safe haven.
The Incorporated Board of Trustees of the Igala Cultural Development Association made the call in a Communique shortly after their meeting held at Rock Garden Hotel in Lokoja on Wednesday.
In the communique signed by the chairman and secretary of the body, respectively, Dr Omakoji Simeon Oyiguh and Hon David Ina Ogu, which was made available to Our Correspondent in Lokoja, the board of Trustees said the increasing incident of kidnapping and murder cases in the flank of the state is worrisome.
The body, therefore, called on all the people living in the nine local governments in the eastern district of the state to take interest in the security and well-being of the inhabitants of the area.
The statement read in parts, “The Incorporated Board of Trustees resolved to appeal to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, to deploy his usual dexterity in security matters to contain the situation in Kogi East.”
Meanwhile, the BoT members have expressed profound gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello on the appointment of Ata Igala, HRM Alaji Matthew Opaluwa Ogwuche11 to ascend the ancestral stool of his forefathers after over a century of denial.
“Appeal is hereby made to the Governor to graciously and dutifully expedite action on the presentation of the staff of office to the Atta ‘Igala to enable him accordingly commence activities to support government actions to deal with the worsening insecurity in Kogi East Senatorial District”, BoT expressed in the communique.
It would be recalled that an oil worker with shell petroleum Development company, Ojonimi Ossai and one Adam Okpanachi, a son of APC ward chairman, Icheke ward of Omalla local government who were kidnapped recently and their abductors allegedly demanded N5m and N2m, respectively, but they were killed by their captors.
