Alawo stool: Royal family nominates 47-year old Activist

A royal family of Late Prince Alimi Akanfe Adeniyi of Abioye ruling
house,Awo, has nominated a 47-year old renown fearless human rights
and pro-democracy activist, Comrade (Prince)Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman to
become the next Paramount ruler of the ancient town of  Awo, the
headquarters of Egbedore Local government area of Osun State.

Meanwhile, after the nomination, Prince Sulaiman visited the symbol of
their ancestral Royal compound to pray for the repose of the late
Monarch,Oba Musa Olatunbosun Adebayo,Akinsilo11 and the progress of
the ancient town.

Comrade Sulaiman also visited his mother, Olori Halimotu Aduke Adeniyi
where he (Sulaiman) received her blessings on the nomination to become Alawo of Awo kingdom.

Prince Alimi Akanfe Adeniyi Royal family was among the Seven (7) royal
families comprise of Abioye ruling house that would produce the next
monarch of the ancient town (Awo) , after the reign and death of
immediate past Alawo of Awoland, Late Oba Musa Olatunbosun Adebayo from Akinsilo Ruling House on Wednesday 24th of June 2020.

The source listed the Royal Families comprise of Abioye Ruling House
as Adeniyi Royal Family, Adesola/Aremu Royal Family, Gboyelade Royal
Family, Adetoyi Royal Family, Olawuyi Royal Family, Shittu Olaniyan
(Eruobodo) Royal Family and Adegboye Royal Family

The family nominated his(Prince Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman) name at an
emergency meeting of the royal family held in the town recently to
fill the vacant stool of Alawo in accordance with the Chieftaincy
declaration of the ancient town.

The nomination was contained in a letter dated 3rd of July,2020, and
signed on behalf of Prince Alimi Akanfe Adeniyi Royal Family by Prince
Abubakar  Adeniyi and submitted to the head of the Abioye Ruling
House, Prince(Alhaji) Abdulkareem Adegboye for onward transmission to the State Government for approval and necessary rites.

The copy of the nomination letter also forwarded to the Chairman of
the Egbedore Local Government, Awo for notification and necessary
action and the copies of the Nomination Letters were made available to
newsmen on Monday.

While submitting the name of Prince Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, Abubakar
urged the sons and daughters of the Abioye Ruling House to support
Sulaiman to become the next monarch of the ancient town, believing that he would use his wealth of experience and connection as competent human rights and pro-democracy activist, anti-corruption crusader, environmentalist, and public affairs analyst,to bring unprecedented development to the good people of the community and the ancient town at large.

According to the family source, it was disclosed that the Rights
Activist of Late Chief Gani Fawehinmi School of thought, had not shown
interest of becoming the Paramount ruler of the ancient town, for fear
of being going the way of immediate past Emir of Kano, Alhaji

Muhammadu Lamido Sanusi II.But royal family insisted that Prince
Sulaiman is their nominee for the exalted monarchical office of the
ancient town, praying that God would guide him in this journey of
family responsibility.

The letter reads in part,” As we all know that our Ruling House which
is Abioye Ruling House is the next Ruling House to produce the next
Alawo of Awo in line with the order of rotation of Alawo of Awo

Chieftaincy Declaration of 1978 that listed as follows: Awojobi,
Akinsilo (immediate past), Abioye (next) and Okunji”.

Receiving the nomination letter, the head of the ruling house, Alhaji
Adegboye was full of happiness that the royal family submit their
nominee without any rancor, prayed for the nominee to be the best
choice for the ruling house that would be on the throne of Alawo, at
the end of the whole process.

Abubakar further stated that the family has confidence in the capacity
of  Prince Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman to turn around the town from grass
to grace within the shortest possible time of being on the throne,
describing him(Prince Sulaiman) as the epitome of courage, truth,
egalitarian society and royalty.

He noted that Prince Sulaiman is a fearless, courageous and tireless
activist, a dogged fighter, and a reliable Prince, who has done the
ancient town proud in all ramifications.

Abubakar then, urged the State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola whom
he described as a listening and just leader and prescribing authority
to affirm the nomination to ensure that the due process was followed
without fear or favour in choosing the next monarch of the ancient
town in order avoid future catastrophe for the community.
