The Taraba Concerned Citizen Forum has accused the All Progressive Congress (APC), National Caretaker Committee Chairman, and the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, of plotting to create a political crisis in Taraba State with his alleged financial inducements of some members of the State House of Assembly to join his party, APC.
Addressing a Press Conference in Jalingo on Sunday, the group’s Coordinator, Comrade Munsur Mukaila Jirgi, said that the alleged ‘heavy financial’ inducement of some PDP members in the Taraba state house of assembly to decamp to the APC and ensure the APC emerge majority in the Assembly remains a major threat to the political peace of the state.
He called on Mallam Mai Mala Buni to stay clear of Taraba State and it’s House of Assembly, urging him to focus on developing his own state, Yobe, and uniting his party APC.
Jirgi said that the residents of the state are totally against any change of the leadership of Taraba state house of assembly or “any political interference by Mai Mala Buni who is desperate to ensure his party, APC capture Taraba state through the back door instead of the constitutional process.”
“Just this weekend, the media space was agog with a purported plot to impeach the Speaker of Taraba State Hon Joseph Albasu Kunini and the Governor of this state. The alleged involvement of Mallam Mai Mala Buni is a major source of concern to us.
“It’s evidently clear that Mallam Mai Mala Buni has been doing everything possible to break the political history of Taraba state, this must not affect the peace, unity and political stability enjoyed in Taraba State under Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku,” the group said.
The group called on all political actors within and outside the state to concentrate on building a new Taraba.
“This is not the time for dangerous politicking. Its time to develop Taraba State. All hands irrespective of political and personal interest must be on deck to achieve these.
“This plot is simply to destabilize the steady progress being made by Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State amid difficult circumstances in the state and the federal government through its various projects in place despite the battle against COVID-19 and lean financial resources to tackle developmental projects.”
