Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere has commended the good people of Imo State for coming out en mass during the today’s sanitation exercise to clean up their environments and business centers.

Speaking to the Press men during an inspection exercise at Douglas Road, Owerri, he expressed happiness over the enthusiasm of the residents of Owerri to join hands to making Imo the cleanest State in the Federation.

Prince Madumere who was in company of Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon. Uche Nwosu and Imo State Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Dr. Hilary Eke, described the exercise as a huge success. He further linked the exercise to Governor Okorocha’s vision to make Imo State becoming the most desired haven for tourists and investors.

Prince Madumere also averred that the monthly Clean-up seeks to make the State the most friendly and healthiest environment with healthy and energetic work force.

The number two citizen of Imo State advised the people of Imo state and residents to always dispose their refuse at the right places and stop littering the environment. He therefore warned against inappropriately throwing thrashes and sachet of used water in the gutters to avoid blockages. He added that such dirty habit causes flooding and breeds mosquitoes, which causes malaria and other deadly diseases.

Responding to the press men whether the exercise is a one-off thing, he said the exercise has come to stay as it is designed to hold monthly.

He however, advised the public that keeping their environment clean is every day affair for them to reap the gains of healthy living.

He therefore warned the public against using monthly exercise as an excuse to keep their environment filthy as sanitation laws and sickness are ignorant such excuses.
