At least ASCON Oil would have lost over N400 million in the fire that ravaged one of its mega filling stations in Lekki Phase I, Lagos today.

The cause of the fire according to findings, was a petrol tanker that came to the filling station to deliver fuel.

Besides the petrol station being razed down, other properties included cars parked in the filling station as well as neighboring buildings.

ASCON started operations initially in Kano and got its NNPC/PPMC bulk purchase agreement signed in 1988 as an Independent petroleum products marketer. In 1991, it moved its Headquarter to Lagos from Kano which now serves as a regional office for northern branches. In 1999, the company completed the construction of a bulk storage terminal at Ibru Port complex. Designed and constructed in its entirety by Nigerian Engineers, the terminal has a capacity of 35,000 MT with a loading capacity of 3 Million litres per day. Basically, our operations cover the marketing of refined petroleum products through retail outlets (petrol filling stations), and bulk supplies to commercial and industrial consumers.
