Oyo: Police handled 365 Rape Cases in 2013 says CP

No fewer than 365 rape cases were handled by the Oyo State Police Command in 2013, the Commissioner of Police for the state Command, Mr. Mohammed Indabawa has disclosed.
While unfoldingd this in Ibadan on Tuesday during an interactive session with journalists, the CP stated that the operatives of the command foiled 32 armed robbery attacks and 18 kidnap attempts during the year.
According to the Commissioner of Police, a total of 60,997 ammunitions and cartridges were also recovered by the Command in the year.
The police boss noted with delight that the state governor, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi, as the State Chief Executive Officer, had publicly acknowledged effective policing in the state in the year.
As part of the command’s efforts, Indabawa said that in November, 1098 bags of substances suspected to be Indian Hemp which amounted to N18million were recovered.

He promised that the command would redouble its crime fighting efforts and frontally confront crimes, criminality and criminals that dare tread on Oyo State soil.
He assured residents in the state of their resolve to make Oyo State economic viable and attractive to investors through result-oriented policing in the state.
On the casualty recorded among his men, he explained that with the exception of one or two occasions when a negligible number paid the supreme price, the command said there was a noticeable reduction in casualty figure as a result of modern method of policing employed by its men.
