A Lagos High Court presided over by Honorable Justice S.B. Candid-Johnson has granted an Interlocutory Injunction filed by Ferdinand Orbih & Co. Esq. on behalf of Edo Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, restraining Mr. Segun Asaju (sales agent to the Governor of Edo State and his privies) from tampering with and or opening any bids
submitted by bidders in respect of the landed property known and addressed as Edo House at No 1225 Ahmadu Bello Way and No. 1225 Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island Lagos pending the hearing and
determination of the Motion on Notice on November 8, 2013. The order was made on Wednesday.
It would be recalled that the Edo PDP recently threatened to stop the proposed sale of Edo House in Lagos, by the state government, describing the move to sell the multi-billion naira edifice as unacceptable.
Edo State Chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, had said the planned sale of the asset was faulty, adding, “We have come out to reject the entire process. The Edo House valued at N3.5 billion was the most priced asset of the state.”
He queried the process of selecting Segun Asaju, the Estate Agent handling the sale of the property, pointing out that there were more qualified Estate Valuers of Edo State origin that were not given the opportunity to partake in the process.
However, Special Adviser to Governor Adams Oshiomhole on Media and Publicity, Mr. Kassim Afegbua, said the state government intends to sell the house “because that is the best thing to do in the light of long years of decay in the hands of PDP government.”
He said rather than abandon a property in Lagos, the state government will utilise its economic value for the overall good of the people of Edo State.
