The Tinubu Support Group (TSG) has welcomed 136,000 new members into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a major political mobilisation in Kano ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Thousands of APC supporters from Kano and other parts of Northern Nigeria gathered at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday for the inauguration of the TSG State Executive Council and the formal reception of the new party members.
The event attracted political stakeholders, community leaders, youth and women groups and other supporters of the ruling party.
According to a statement issued by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the large turnout reflected growing political activities and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Among those received into the APC were Senators Sani Rufa’i Hanga, Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya and Baraka Sani, as well as associates of former Kano Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna.
The new members were formally welcomed into the ruling party amid cheers from supporters at the stadium.
The gathering also witnessed the inauguration of the TSG State Executive Council, with Baffa Babba Dan’agundi inaugurated as the group’s Northwest Zone Coordinator alongside other state and zonal officials.
The TSG is expected to intensify grassroots mobilisation, educate citizens on the policies and programmes of the Federal Government and rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The event was supported by the Kano State Government, which said it remained committed to creating platforms for political participation, peaceful engagement and democratic governance.
The gathering ended with the newly admitted APC members and supporters expressing confidence in President Tinubu and the ruling party.
The organisers described the turnout as further evidence of Kano’s importance as a major political centre in Northern Nigeria and of increasing political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
