WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has revealed why he chooses not to take extended breaks from wrestling, despite growing calls for him to step away and recharge.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Rhodes said he understands why many wrestlers take time off to recover from injuries, improve their fitness, or pursue projects outside the ring. However, he believes WWE also needs stars who remain consistently available to fans.
According to Rhodes, wrestlers who return after lengthy absences often receive a huge reception from audiences, but that excitement eventually settles. For him, the greater responsibility is being a reliable presence on WWE programming.
Rhodes said advice from former WWE star Bobby Roode helped shape his outlook. He explained that if other performers are taking breaks, someone must remain a constant figure for the company and its fans.
The WWE Champion acknowledged that being on television regularly can sometimes make a performer feel predictable, but he considers that a worthwhile trade-off. Rhodes said he intends to continue carrying that responsibility until another star is ready to step into the role.
His comments come as CM Punk is on a planned hiatus following his World Heavyweight Championship loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42.
For now, Rhodes remains committed to being one of WWE’s most visible and dependable stars, insisting that his focus is on showing up consistently for both the company and its fans.
