IMO Govt moves to reposition Industrial Market

In her bid to pursue to a logical conclusion its electoral promise of creating industrial base for Imo state, Imo State government has promised to re-position Umuonyeali Timber and Allied Products Industrial layout in Mbieri to meet its primary objective.

Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere hinted this when he received in audience the Umuonyeali Timber Traders Association when they paid him a solidarity visit.

He said the market can only realize its full potential when it is equipped with the necessary facilities that will make it self-sustaining. He averred that it will make artisans, furniture makers and industrialists not to go far in search of materials and facilities for their production.

He reminded the group led by Comrade Kingsley Onunwa that the move is necessary especially this period that “Imo my pride” policy is being implemented to clean up Imo State to re-position it for investors and tourism. He promised to intimate the Governor, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha on the development, saying the market can contain even much more people for both commodity sales and industrial materials.

The Imo number two citizen used the opportunity to thank them for their support during the last April election where they voted massively for All Progressives Congress as they promised.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation from Umuonyeali Timber and Allied Products Industrial Market and the President of Umuonyeali Timber Traders Association, Comrade Kingsley Onunwa said their visit was to congratulate the Governor and his Deputy for their resounding victory during the last election.

He called on the government to come to their aide by rehabilitating roads leading to the industrial market as it has caused untold hardship to both artisans and traders in the market. He counted their losses occasioned by falling of Lorries conveying materials in and out of the market.

They group further revealed to Prince Madumere that the Market over four thousand capacity to accommodate hawking traders and those plying their trades at illegal places. He also told the number two citizen of Imo State that the Market also has area that is mainly for commodities other than industrial products. He therefore suggested a relocation of those inappropriate and illegally created markets to Umuonyeali Market.

The traders also sought governments to help them procure two industrial generating sets to enable them have constant power during productions. He said this alone will make the market realize its huge potentials.

In conclusion, the group pledged their unalloyed loyalty and support to rescue Mission government, which they said has given governance a human face unlike when those in power made themselves inaccessible.
