Arsenal F.C. edged closer to winning their first Premier League title in 22 years after a tense 1-0 victory over West Ham United F.C. at the London Stadium on Sunday.

The decisive moment came late in the second half when Leandro Trossard scored with a deflected effort to give the Gunners a valuable three points in the title race. The win moved Mikel Arteta’s side five points ahead of Manchester City F.C., although City still have a game in hand.

Arsenal dominated the early stages, particularly through the lively combination of Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori on the left flank. Calafiori created several chances but failed to convert as West Ham’s defence stood firm.

The visitors suffered a setback midway through the first half when defender Ben White was forced off injured after a challenge involving Crysencio Summerville. Arteta responded with tactical reshuffles, including moving Declan Rice into defence before restoring him to midfield after the break.

West Ham threatened on several occasions and nearly took the lead when Mateus Fernandes broke through one-on-one, but goalkeeper David Raya produced an important save to keep Arsenal level.

The game ended in controversy after Callum Wilson thought he had scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser for West Ham. However, VAR ruled out the goal after determining that Pablo had fouled Raya in the build-up, sparking frustration among the home supporters.

Despite an unconvincing display, Arsenal held on for the victory and now look strong favourites to lift the Premier League trophy with matches against Burnley F.C. and Crystal Palace F.C. remaining.
