President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain united and resilient in the face of ongoing economic and security challenges, assuring citizens that his administration is making steady progress toward national stability and prosperity.

In his 2026 Easter message released by the State House on Friday, the President joined Christians in Nigeria and across the world in commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, describing the season as a symbol of sacrifice, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness.

Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties confronting the nation, particularly economic strain and persistent insecurity, but emphasized that deliberate efforts are underway to address them. He commended members of the Armed Forces for their sacrifices in confronting insurgency and banditry, noting that his administration continues to provide resources and strengthen international partnerships to combat threats to national security.

Referencing his recent visit to Jos following attacks in Plateau State, the President said he had met with affected communities to express solidarity and reassure them of improved security. He added that Nigeria’s security leadership has expressed confidence in ongoing operations, with additional support being secured from foreign allies.

The President urged citizens across the country to support lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace, stressing that unity and collective responsibility are essential for national progress. He noted that no nation can thrive under fear or sustain development without peace.

Tinubu also highlighted ongoing economic reforms, acknowledging their immediate challenges but describing them as necessary steps toward long-term shared prosperity. He reiterated that meaningful transformation often requires sacrifice and patience.

Looking ahead to the next electoral cycle, the President called for political maturity and adherence to the Electoral Act by all stakeholders. He emphasized the importance of responsible participation in the democratic process, noting that democracy thrives on restraint, accountability, and informed choices.

Despite current pressures on citizens, Tinubu expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic direction, pointing to positive indicators as evidence that the country is on the right path.

He thanked Nigerians for their continued support and trust in his administration, urging them to remain steadfast and contribute to building a more secure, prosperous, and democratic nation.

The President concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
