The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday at the party’s national convention in Abuja, elected a new National Working Committee (NWC), with Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda emerging as the party’s National Chairman.
The newly constituted leadership, drawn from across the six geopolitical zones, is expected to strengthen party unity, improve internal administration, and position the APC for upcoming political engagements.
Ali Bukar Dalori was named Deputy National Chairman (North), while Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye emerged as Deputy National Chairman (South). Former senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru was appointed National Secretary, with Prof. AbdulKarim Abubakar Kana as Deputy National Secretary.
Other key positions include Murtala Aliyu Kankia as National Legal Adviser, Uguru Mathew Ofoke as National Treasurer, and Ambassador Haruna Ginsau as National Financial Secretary. Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu will serve as National Organising Secretary, while Donatus Enyinnah Nwankpa was named National Welfare Secretary. Felix Morka takes charge as National Publicity Secretary, and Senator Abubakar Maikafi was appointed National Auditor.
In line with inclusiveness, Dr. Mary A. Idele was named National Women Leader, Dayo Israel Abdullahi as National Youth Leader, and Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole as National Leader for Persons with Disabilities.

This marks a significant step in the party’s reorganisation, with expectations that the new leadership will drive reforms, deepen grassroots mobilisation, and consolidate the APC’s dominance in Nigeria’s political landscape.
