Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to building a united and prosperous Nigeria following a consultative visit to Kaduna State.

Obi made this known on Monday after meeting with party stakeholders and members in the state, including gubernatorial hopeful, Dr. Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani, and Lawal Adamu, who represents Kaduna Central in the Senate.

According to the former Anambra State governor, the interactions revealed not just political ambition among the stakeholders but a genuine desire to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to national development.

He described Kaduna as a strategic state with a rich history as a symbol of unity and coexistence, as well as a major hub for industry, agriculture, and commerce. Obi noted that although the state has lost some of its past glory, it still holds immense potential that can be unlocked through disciplined, competent, and people-oriented leadership.

The Labour Party chieftain also stressed the importance of rebuilding unity within the state, warning that division remains a major obstacle to progress. He said only a united, just, and inclusive society can achieve lasting peace and sustainable development.

During the meeting, Obi urged political leaders to abandon what he described as the “politics of money” and instead embrace a system driven by competence, character, and measurable results.

He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, stating that his visit to Kaduna had strengthened his belief in the possibility of building a functional nation where every citizen has a sense of belonging and access to opportunities.

“I leave Kaduna feeling encouraged and hopeful that a New Nigeria is possible,” he said.
