The Presidency has affirmed that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, remains the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, amid ongoing impeachment threats.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, made this known, emphasizing that former Governor Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has no authority within the APC.

Bwala stated that Fubara should be allowed to carry out his constitutional duties without interference from Wike or his allies. He explained that while Wike may hold influence within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, he cannot speak for the APC.

The presidential aide also highlighted that President Tinubu’s stance aligns with the party’s rules and democratic principles. “The president believes in the rule of law and due process, and the party will always respect that,” Bwala said.

On concerns about Wike’s cabinet role, Bwala added that while the president compensates officials appropriately, such privileges should not undermine the interests of Nigeria.
