Nigeria Clinch AFCON 2025 Bronze After Penalty Shootout Win Over Egypt

Nigeria secured third place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after defeating Egypt 4–2 on penalties following a hard-fought playoff.

The encounter ended level after regulation time, pushing both sides into a penalty shootout to decide the bronze medal. Nigeria kept their composure from the spot, converting four kicks, while Egypt faltered with key misses from star players Omar Marmoush and Mohamed Salah.

Nigeria’s goalkeeper played a decisive role, denying Egypt the chance to mount a comeback as the Super Eagles calmly saw out the shootout victory. The result handed Nigeria a deserved bronze medal, rounding off their AFCON 2025 campaign on a positive note.
