Liverpool’s board has thrown its full support behind manager Arne Slot following Mohamed Salah’s shock outburst over his recent exclusion from the team.

Salah’s comments after Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Leeds — where he claimed he had been “thrown under the bus” — have stunned club executives. The Egyptian star has been dropped for the last three matches, sparking uncertainty over whether he will travel for Tuesday’s Champions League tie against Inter Milan or feature in next weekend’s Premier League fixture against Brighton.

The board is said to support Slot’s authority on tactical selections and expects players to respond professionally to his decisions.

Salah, who signed a new two-year deal in April, also stated that his relationship with Slot had broken down, adding to speculation over his future. Saudi Pro League clubs are understood to be monitoring the situation ahead of the January transfer window.

Salah, 33, has struggled to match last season’s form, scoring five goals and registering three assists in 19 appearances this campaign. He has not netted in the league since November 1.

The forward, a four-time Premier League Golden Boot winner, has scored 188 goals and provided 89 assists in 301 league games since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017.
