The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State has begun deploying security operatives to public primary and secondary schools in its communities as part of efforts to enhance safety and protect pupils.

Council Chairman, Sesan Olowa, disclosed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, saying the initiative is aimed at safeguarding lives and property, especially in learning environments.

According to him, multi-agency security teams will be stationed at school entrances, premises, and surrounding areas to enable quick response to emergencies.

The operatives include members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps (Folumo), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Forest Security Services.

Olowa urged school heads, parents, and community members to cooperate with security personnel by reporting suspicious movements around school corridors.

He added that the council has begun assessing security needs across educational institutions to identify gaps and implement measures to prevent threats.

The chairman assured residents that the initiative is part of broader efforts to create a secure, peaceful, and conducive environment for quality education and community development in Ibeju-Lekki.
