Nigerian actor and content creator Odira Nwobu has reportedly died in South Africa, five months after surviving a serious car accident along the Lagos–Ibadan expressway. Independent sources confirmed that Nwobu passed away over the weekend, reportedly due to complications from high blood pressure (HBP).

The news of his death was confirmed on X by one of his close friends, IDC (Igbo Merchant), who wrote: “I can confirm to everyone that Odira Nwobu is dead. He was my friend and colleague. I just spoke with his manager… Odira, please come back.”

Fans and colleagues have expressed shock and grief. One post on social media read: “You were full of life just hours ago in South Africa, and you even had your thanksgiving service a few months ago. Many people came to celebrate with you. How can you return from South Africa lifeless? Honestly, I am drowning in tears. Death is rude. I am heartbroken.”

Another comedian reacted with disbelief, posting: “No… I can’t believe this. Nooooo.”

Nwobu had survived a ghastly car accident in June 2025, which left his vehicle severely damaged and claimed multiple lives. Despite the severity of the crash, he was seen conscious at the scene and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

His untimely death has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment community, with fans and colleagues mourning the loss of the talented actor and content creator.
